Five years ago, this amazing Burmese refugee girl, called Pha Sai came into our life. She and Martin connected from the first day and she helped him a lot after his stroke. In the care team around Martin she was our little sunshine and she had a dream: she wanted to become a skilled nurse but doubted if she would ever have the possibility…
One of Martin’s care team members was a nurse and when she moved in she also brought a box with her nursing cap inside. Pha Sai admired the nursing cap with a lot of respect and didn’t dare to touch it.
Martin forced Pha Sai to put the nursing cap on and look into the mirror with the words: I WILL BECOME A TRAINED NURSE – which she did. This was four years ago.
Two years ago she started her international nursing training at Asian Pacific University in Bangkok and she has two more years to go, but today she got her NURSING CAP in a ceremony at the university.
The capping ceremony has historically been an important ritual in the nursing profession, symbolizing the transition.
Never stop dreaming…
Dreams ignite the fire inside,
they lead us where our hearts reside.
